About

John Biesnecker

Hi, I’m John. I’m a software engineer, amateur photographer, husband, father, son, football (⚽) and baseball (⚾) enthusiast, would-be world traveler, language learner, and a bunch of other things. I like to cook and I love to eat. I’m low-key AI-pilled. I live in Orlando, Florida with my wife, children, and dogs.

I’m a staff engineer at Airbnb where I work on i18n infra. In my spare time you’ll often find me outside with my Fujifilm XE-5 trying to capture some pretty light. I mostly work with vintage manual lenses, though I grab either the 23mm or 90mm XF autofocus lenses when I want the crispness they provide. Someday I’d like to be more serious about photography than I am.

You can find me in all the normal places: Instagram, Github, LinkedIn.

Camera Stuff

I shoot digital and 35mm film. For digital, I have a Fujifilm XE-5; for analog, an all-black Minolta XD-s, a Praktica VLC-2, and a Zorki-4. Of course I also shoot plenty of pictures with my iPhone.

Lenses

Most of these lenses I adapt to the X-E5. Of course the MD lenses fit the Minolta, and the Praktica can mount any M-42 lens.
