My name is John. I’m a husband to a wonderful woman, a father to two teenage boys, an emotional support human for two dogs, and a software engineer.

Whenever I see a plane fly over, I think to myself, “I wish I were on it.” I don’t really care where it’s going. I think that says something important about my personality.

I like walking, and try to put in 6-10 miles every morning it’s not raining.

I want to like to cook more than I do, but I do like it a little bit. I liked cooking more during the COVID lockdowns, but it turns out that it’s less fun when there’s literally any alternative.

I also like languages. I speak Mandarin Chinese fairly well, thanks to a decade in China in my twenties and early thirties. And of course English. I’ve been learning Spanish for a while now, and would like to get it to a B2-ish level then move onto French.

I’m not sure why I didn’t start with French.
